Sweet Briar College challenges and inspires women, forging ethical leaders with the skill, compassion, and vision to create a more just and sustainable world. In 2019, as part of our focus on sustainability and agricultural enterprises, we planted grapes on our beautiful campus, situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Amherst County. We are excited to share wines produced from these grapes, and bottled in Charlottesville, with you. Our students grown produce in our 26,000 square foot greenhouse for wholesale distribution, campus dining, and an on-campus market and CSA distribution; they also help tend bees and harvest honey in our 20-hive apiary. Our agricultural areas serve as important learning resources for our students, especially those in our Leadership in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program.
Please see http://sbc.edu/farm for information on purchasing Sweet Briar College Farm products, including our wines, and when we have tasting and sales events. Our wine shop and tasting area are located in the Wailes Center, just beyond the campus entrance check-in station.
