Where to Find the Most CHEERSful Tastings on Women in Wine Weekend

Holiday wine tastings will be popping up across Virginia Wine Country during the Women In Wine Holidays Kickoff Weekend, November 1st – 3rd.  From CiderMosas, Apple Pie and Cranberry Spiced Wine, and Festive Pear Dessert Wine to Mulled Red and White Wines, Sangria Wine Slushies, and Cranberry Mimosas, there is something for everyone!

Over thirty-five wineries are kicking off the holidays with specialty tastings, Women in Wine talks, holiday shopping markets, craft workshops, charity food drives and much more. See the full schedule here, and check out the weekend’s tasting highlights below.

Northern Virginia

Barrel Oak Winery (Nov. 3), Delaplane 

Celebrate the craft, vision, and passion of our all-woman team with a special flight featuring our standout favorites. Whether you’re a wine lover, a cocktail sipper, or a seltzer fan – there’s something for everyone!

Good Spirit Farm (Nov. 1-3), Round Hill

Good Spirit Farm is excited to participate in the first Virginia Women in Wine Weekend and will be featuring seasonal wine specials, music, women artisans and women-owned businesses.

Gray Ghost Vineyards (Nov. 3), Amissville

Enjoy tasting four past vintages of Gray Ghost wine in the wine library with owners and winemaker, Al and Cheryl Kellert.  Gray Ghost’s limited production Reserve Cabernet Sauvignons are being featured in this tasting! $50 per person includes library tasting, Gray Ghost 30th Anniversary crystal logo glass (while supplies last), plate of cheeses and tasting of current releases.

Molon Lave Vineyards and Winery (Nov. 2-3), Warrenton, VA

Stop by Molan Lave Vineyards and Winery and enjoy their two brand new wine releases including a sparkling rosé, Pink Tourmaline, and a red blend, Vineyard Moon!  Both wines will be available in the tasting room and available for purchase.  Mulled wine will also be available for purchase!

Potomac Point Winery (Nov. 3), Stafford

Grab your girlfriends and head to Potomac Point Winery on Sunday, November 3rd for the ultimate ladies’ day out! Treat yourself to the seasonal wine cocktails, perfect for fall: from the cozy Apple Pie Sangria and rich Fall Red Sangria to the crisp Apple Cider Mimosa and vibrant Pomegranate & Blueberry Mimosa. And for those who prefer no alcohol, their Spiced Cranberry Mocktail has all the festive flavor! Pair these delicious drinks with a relaxing Sunday brunch in the bistro, surrounded by vineyard views and great company. It’s the perfect way to unwind, sip, and savor the season with your best gals!

Central Virginia

Chiswell Farm and Winery (Nov. 1-3), Batesville 

Visit Chiswell Farm and Winery to get a taste of their famous CiderMosas, made with the farm’s fresh apple cider, sparkling wine, a cinnamon sugar rim, and an apple slice.  They’ll offer a complimentary fresh apple cider donut, made on the farm, to participants.

Eastwood Farm and Winery (Nov. 1-3), Charlottesville

Enjoy tasting events events, mulled wine and award-winning wines among other festivities all weekend long!

Hardware Hills Vineyard (Nov. 1-3), Scottsville 

Head for the Hills and explore their growing tasting space that includes a soon-to-be-complete tasting room expansion.  Relax on the porch on inside — but definitely bring a camera to capture the stunning maple trees in FULL COLOR along the vineyard. Mulled wine will be on the menu in addition to their very special and wildly popular seasonal sangria:  Apple Pie (available by the glass, bottle or growler).  Meet new vineyard puppy Lucy and say hello to the owners who will be on hand to greet you with open arms.

Hazy Mountain Vineyards (Nov. 3), Charlottesville 

Visit Hazy Mountain Sunday, November 3rd for a special tasting experience from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm. Enjoy the first release from their Sparkling Program and the wine selections for their 2024 Holiday Bundle. Tastings include 4 wines and are $20 per person.

Horton Vineyards (Nov. 2-3), Gordonsville 

Horton Vineyards will be featuring Sparkling Cocktails, Mulled Fruit wines – Spiced Cranberry Orange, Chinese 5 Spice Blackberry, Festive Pear Dessert Wine and Mulled Red wine.  They will also be offering several meet the winemaker/master blender events, along with a charity food drive.

James River Cellars (Nov. 1-3), Glen Allen

Visit James River Cellars and enjoy a refreshing specialty sangria wine slushie, mixed with the 2021 Chambourcin. This sweet red wine delivers vibrant wild berry flavors, including cherry, blackberry, and raspberry, creating a fruity and refreshing experience. Available in 8oz or 16oz sizes, this slushie is a great way to take part in celebrating the first Women in Wine weekend!

Prince Michel Winery (Nov. 1-3), Leon 

Head over to Prince Michel Winery throughout the holiday kickoff weekend to indulge in holiday beverage tastings, along with a charity food drive.

Southern Revere Cellars (Nov. 2), Louisa 

Join Southern Revere Cellars on Nov 2nd from 5 – 9 pm for a Virginia Women in Wine special evening with music and wine specials. Enjoy an acoustic musical performance by Nate Oyler while you enjoy a wine flight, glass, or bottle. Special for that night only, tasters will get to enjoy their typically bottle-sale-only sparkling wine (Spark – a sparkling Seyval Blanc)! Warm mulled wine will also be available for purchase.

Two Up Wine Down Festival (Nov. 2), Charlottesville 

Head to the lawn at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, from 3 – 6 pm for an afternoon of tastings, DJ-spun beats, and an all-star cast of Virginia wine curators. These curators will be sharing the spotlight, offering their unique perspectives on each thoughtfully chosen Virginia wine that brings us all together. Whether you’re a wine aficionado or just down for a fun day, this is the place to be.

This festival features wines and winemakers from women owned and women made wines including Fifty Leven, Sweet Vines, Septenary, Blenheim Vineyards, Eastwood Farm & Winery, and more! VIP tickets offer you early access to the event venue with a hosted curated wine tasting including exclusive wines that won’t be featured during the main event, sponsored by the Monticello Wine Trail! 

Valley Road Vineyards (Nov. 1-3), Afton 

During the first Women in Wine weekend, Valley Road Vineyards will feature perfect-for-the-holidays sparkling cocktails made with their Blanc de Blanc Sparkling Wine (previously unavailable to the general public!): Apple Cider Mimosas and Festive Cranberry Mimosas.

Southern Virginia

Dobbins Hollow Winery and Cidery (Nov. 1-3), Floyd 

Throughout the holiday season Dobbins Hollow Winery and Cidery will offer holiday favorites such as Pumpkin Pie Traminnette, Hot Spiced Wines, Apple Pie Wine, Cranberry Spice Wine, and the favorite cocktail Winter Wish!

Chesapeake Bay/Northern Neck

Rivah Vineyards at the Grove (Nov. 2-3), Kinsale 

Stop by Rivah Vineyards at the Grove and enjoy special prices – BOGO Tasting and 15% off their Yeocomico White and Sweet Sue bottles.

The Hague Winery (Nov. 2-3), Hague 

Join the Hague Winery to celebrate Women in Wine: women-owned food truck, specials on their Cynthia Dessert Wine, with Cynthia on site to pour, and a special Wine cocktail designed by Cheryl to get you in the Holiday Season Spirit.

Ingleside Vineyards (Nov. 1-3), Colonial Beach 

Visit Ingleside Vineyards to enjoy a special “Award-Winners” tasting flight, featuring five Ingleside wines which are all Silver or Gold medal winners. This flight will include a 1 oz tasting of each wine and will be available for $15/person. They will have a selection of cheeses and meats available for purchase – or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy!
