General Event Information

When and where is the Virginia Women in Wine Trail taking place?

The event runs March 14-31, 2025, across participating wineries throughout Virginia Wine Country.

What is the Virginia Women in Wine Trail?

This is a month-long celebration during Women’s History Month showcasing the women winemakers, growers, owners, and leaders who shape Virginia’s wine industry. Participating wineries will offer special activities and experiences that give visitors personal connections to the women who create the wines they love.

Who can attend this event?

The event is open to all wine enthusiasts, with a special focus on wine consumers in Virginia, Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.

How do I plan my visit?

You can plan your wine route by using our interactive trail map, downloading and printing out a Trail Card (coming soon!) [note: when this is ready, we will link it here] , or picking up a Trail Card at participating wineries (limited quantity available!). Wineries will be added to the map as they register. Wineries have also given helpful information about where to stay and where to dine nearby.

Do I need to book anything in advance?

While general attendance doesn’t require booking, some special events at individual wineries may require reservations. Check the details for each participating location on our website. We recommend making travel arrangements and accommodation reservations early if you’re planning to visit multiple wineries.

What kinds of activities can I expect?

Activities vary by location but may include:

  • Meet the Women Winemakers events
  • Vineyard tours with women vineyard managers
  • Behind-the-scenes talks with women winery owners
  • Blending workshops
  • Blind tasting workshops
  • “First in Wine” flights featuring varieties Virginia was first to grow in the U.S.

For Participating Wineries/Cideries/Meaderies

How can my winery/cidery/meadery participate?

Register here. If you register by February 1, you’ll be included on the website Trail Map, in the printed Trail Card Map and you’ll receive 5 Trail Lawn Signs. If you register after February 1, you will be included on the website Trail Map. 
 
Participants Participating wineries will receive:

  • Digital toolkit with promotional graphics
  • Visibility through VWW’s website and social media platforms
  • Outdoor Trail lawn signs (if registered by Feb 1) 
  • Printed Trail Card Maps (if registered by Feb 1) 
  • Inclusion in VWW’s extensive media campaign
  • Marketing support through participating wineries’ enews and local print media outreach
Is there a cost to participate?

Participation is free for Virginia Women in Wine members and $100 for non-member wineries.

What support will participating locations receive?

Participants will receive:

  • Digital toolkit with promotional graphics
  • Visibility through VWW’s website and social media platforms
  • Outdoor signage (first 30 registrants receive 5 free yard signs)
  • 50 keepsake Trail booklets
  • Inclusion in VWW’s extensive media campaign
  • Marketing support through participating wineries’ enews and local print media outreach

Sponsorship Information

What sponsorship opportunities are available?

We offer two levels of sponsorship:

  • Signature Sponsorship ($2,000): Includes logo recognition on the event logo and flyer, top-of-page recognition on the event website, four “thank you” posts on VWW’s social media, and recognition in event press releases (Limit, two sponsors at this level, email info@virginiawomeninwine.com for sponsorship)
  • Event Sponsorship ($250): Includes logo recognition on the event website, event flyer, and press releases. Available during registration of your location.
Is there a deadline for sponsorship?

Yes, sponsors must commit by:

  • February 1 for inclusion in the Trail booklet
  • March 10 for website listing
